MTE Consultants Inc. was founded in 1985 by Bruce Scheifele as a civil engineering firm focused primarily on land development projects within Waterloo Region. Since then MTE has diversified by incorporating an expanded divisional structure and adding key engineering services.
MTE opened an office in Burlington to provide engineering services to the Hamilton Halton region.
Sze Straka Engineers merged with MTE, adding strength to MTE's structural capacities. The company was founded in 1985 by Yulun Sze, Ph.D., P.Eng. and Peter Straka, Ph.D., P.Eng.
Frontline Environmental and MTE united, expanding MTE's environmental engineering services. Frontline was founded in 1995 by partners that included Peter Gray, P.Geo. and Robert Fedy, P.Eng.
McNeil Surveying Limited became a subsidiary company of MTE. The company was opened in 1979 by Glenice and Donald McNeil, OLS. In 2003 it was purchased by their son Trevor McNeil, OLS and his wife Julie.
GlobalTox International Consultants Inc. joined MTE, adding human and environmental toxicology, and risk assessment services. GlobalTox was founded in 1992 by Dr. Mark Goldenberg and Dr. Ron Brecher.
Waterloo Geoscience Consultants and MTE merged, helping to increase MTE's water resource services, in particular, hydrogeological investigations. WGC was founded in 1988 by Bill Clarke, P.Geo.
Finelli Engineering Inc. merged with MTE, increasing the structural engineering capabilities of the Burlington office. Finelli was established in 1996 by Dan Finelli, P.Eng.
EngCET Engineering Ltd. joined MTE, expanding MTE's civil engineering services in the London market. This acquisition coincided with the opening of a fourth office in London. EngCET was established by partners that included Randy Lucas, C.E.T. and Kyle McIntosh, P.Eng.
