Water Resources Engineer, Civil Engineering | Kitchener


As a Water Resources Engineer working within the Kitchener Land Development Division, you will work on a variety of projects including hydrologic modelling, sizing of storm water management facilities, hydraulic modeling of water courses (creeks / rivers) and infrastructure for flood plain mapping, stormwater management facility design and water balance impact assessments. Strong working knowledge of applicable software including HEC-2 / HEC-RAS, GAWSER, MIDUSS, OTTHYMO, XPSSWMM, and MS Office Suite is required. A strong working knowledge of water resources principles, advanced technical writing skills as well as strong verbal communication and comprehension skills is required. A working knowledge of AutoCAD would be an asset.


The successful candidate will have a degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering and one to two years of experience in a consulting firm. A Masters degree in Water Resources will be considered an asset. An excellent understanding of applicable regulations, standards and legislation related to Land Development and water resources projects, is required. Excellent attention to detail and sound independent judgment and decision making skills is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills with colleagues, staff, and clients, and a “team player” approach to design and problem solving is required.
