MTE's Involvement
MTE was proud to contribute to this project by providing civil engineering services that laid the groundwork for the facility’s sustainable infrastructure.
Our scope included:
- Site grading and servicing design
- Stormwater management planning
- Integration of low-impact development (LID) elements, including a bioswale to manage runoff naturally
Sustainability Highlights:
- Solar Power: The facility is powered by 775 solar panels capable of generating 408,000 kWh annually—exceeding the company’s average usage of 350,000 kWh per year.
- Geothermal Heating and Cooling: A geothermal system with 24 boreholes reaching 180 m deep, 9 km of piping, and 130 heat pumps maintains an indoor temperature of 20°C year-round.
- Energy-Efficient Envelope: South-facing windows maximize solar gain, while a triple-glazed façade minimizes heat loss and enhances energy performance.
These features collectively make the Endress+Hauser Customer Experience Centre one of the most energy-efficient and environmentally advanced commercial buildings in Canada.
In recognition of its sustainable design and engineering excellence, the project was awarded the SAB Canadian Green Building Award (2023) in the Commercial/Industrial (Large) category.
