MTE's Involvement
Our civil engineering team initially joined the project to complete the grading, servicing, and stormwater management design for the site, which included maintaining and incorporating the two heritage buildings.
As part of the grading design, we worked closely with MHBC (the landscape architect) to create amenity spaces, including the courtyard and the promenade along the south face of the building. An infiltration gallery was also designed and installed to collect stormwater from the building’s rooftop and parking lot to be retained and infiltrated on the site.
Our team also provided structural engineering services for both the apartment building and the heritage house. The house was completely renovated, structurally upgraded and restored. The apartment building was designed and constructed, using cast-in-place concrete below grade with precast concrete above grade. The precast concrete incorporated a patterned form-liner that mimicked the adjacent historic building. With construction complete, residents have officially made Civic 66 their home.
