Project overview

In collaboration with Diamond Schmitt Architects, MTE was proud to support the development of a new, operational building for the Labourers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) Local 183. Located in Vaughan’s emerging urban district, the facility featured a six-storey tower connected to a three-storey wing, centered around a dynamic assembly hall capable of hosting up to 3,000 guests.

MTE's Involvement

The headquarters was designed to provide both administrative and community services, including contemporary office spaces, medical clinics, a pharmacy, financial services, training classrooms, and recreational amenities—all housed within a striking, fully glazed architectural envelope.

MTE provided civil and structural engineering services for the project.

Our civil engineering team completed the site grading, servicing, and stormwater management design for the 4.16-hectare site, which had previously been used as agricultural land. The site plan accommodated the main six-storey building, one level of underground parking, and at-grade surface parking.

Our structural engineering team designed the cold-formed steel structural system and carried out construction review and certification services throughout the build. The facility was constructed to meet LEED Silver standards and was designed with future expansion in mind, ensuring long-term adaptability for LiUNA Local 183.
