Water ingress continues to be one of the most significant sources of professional liability claims in the architectural industry, making a strong understanding of insurance requirements more important than ever.
MTE Consultants is contributing its expertise to the upcoming TSA Technical Series: Maintaining Your Envelope’s Insurance Coverage, with Building Science Specialist Stephanie Martin, M.Sc.,P.Eng. representing both MTE and the Building Science Association of Ontario (BSAO).
The webinar will focus on recently updated technical requirements from Pro-Demnity Insurance Company, which outline the conditions architects must meet to maintain coverage for water ingress-related claims. Originally introduced in response to the Leaky Condo Crisis, these requirements continue to evolve alongside building practices and material systems.
During the session, MTE will provide practical guidance on how these updates impact today’s projects—particularly in relation to window wall systems, precast concrete assemblies, and newly introduced provisions for insulated metal panels (IMPs). The discussion will also unpack Exclusion 21 within the Pro-Demnity policy and outline the potential consequences of non-compliance.
