Environmental Scientist | Environmental Engineering

We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Division to work out of our Toronto office.

Responsibilities

• Coordination and communication with subcontractors including drillers, excavators, construction contractors, utility locators and laboratories
• Compilation, tabulation and evaluation of analytical data with accuracy
• Preparation of technical reports in consultation with the project manager or other more senior environmental professional
• Attend and participate in project or client meetings, as required
• Participate in Proposal preparation including preparation of cost estimates and proposal text, and compilation of supporting information
• Communication with clients; attend and participate in project or client meetings, as required
• Other related duties, as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Hydrogeology or equivalent
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience
• Future eligibility as a P. Eng. or P. Geo. designation
• Strong technical understanding and experience with provincial (Ontario) regulations and industry standard practices related to environmental site assessment, including O.Reg. 153/04 (Records of Site Condition), O.Reg. 406/19 (On-Site and Excess Soil Management and CSA Standards for Phase I and II ESAs)
• Strong knowledge of soil classification, contaminant transport, hydrogeology and environmental site assessment
• Experience in sample collection and use of field equipment, including surveying equipment, water quality meters and pumps
• Experience with GIS and AutoCAD an asset
• Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Must have strong verbal/written communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly with a variety of individuals (e.g., project managers, laboratories, subcontractors and clients)  
• Must be reliable, well organized and have a strong attention to detail
• Strong time management skills, problem solving skills and decision-making abilities
• Must be able to lift equipment up to 25 kilograms
• Valid Driver’s license and travel to project sites is required. Mileage for work related travel will be reimbursed

Salary Range

$64,000 – $80,000 per year base salary, plus benefits

Annual salary will be based on individual education, qualifications, and relevant work experience.
