News: Expanding into Eastern Ontario through the acquisition of Fishburn Sheridan & Associates
Located at 300 Tartan Drive in London, Ontario, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has transformed a former 3M office building into its provincial headquarters. The redevelopment reimagines the existing structure as a modern workplace designed to support collaboration, accessibility, and evolving ways of working.
Rather than replacing the building, the project prioritized adaptive reuse—revitalizing the 110,000-square-foot facility while preserving its strong architectural presence within the surrounding landscape. The distinctive dark glass façade and tiered massing remain defining features, while the interior has been fully reconfigured to meet the needs of a contemporary work environment.
Today, the headquarters supports approximately 500 employees, with the capacity to grow to nearly 1,000, establishing it as a central hub for WSIB operations across Ontario.
MTE provided structural engineering services for the project, supporting the interior renovation and ensuring the existing structure could accommodate new design elements. This included the structural design required to integrate a Skyfold partition wall system, along with modifications and reinforcements to support the updated interior layout.
