Project overview

The newly constructed 70,000-square-foot facility marks the latest expansion for Stockyards Brewery, supporting the growth of its brewing and roasting operations and introducing a new retail location. A brew hall is also planned to open in the near future, adding to the site’s offerings.

Strategically located at 25 Benjamin Road, directly across from the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market, the new Stockyards Brewery location is now open for retail sales and is poised to become a destination for both local residents and visitors.

MTE's Involvement

MTE was proud to support the development of Stockyards Brewery’s new facility by providing geotechnical and civil engineering services throughout the renovation and expansion process.

As the Geotechnical Consultant, MTE carried out a comprehensive subsurface investigation to assess soil and groundwater conditions on site. Boreholes were drilled both inside and outside the building footprint to inform the design and construction of the retrofit and building addition. Based on the results, MTE provided recommendations to guide foundation design and ensure structural integrity.

As the Civil Consultant, MTE’s responsibilities included site grading, servicing, and stormwater management design. A detailed topographic survey of the property was completed at the outset to establish a reliable base for the site design. Given known servicing constraints in the area, our team assessed local sanitary capacity, water supply, and pressure levels—key considerations for a brewing operation. This analysis informed the design of new service connections to support the brewery’s operational needs.

The site plan also included upgrades to parking and loading areas, requiring careful grading to ensure proper drainage and functionality. During construction, MTE provided general review services for the underground servicing works, including oversight of new water and sanitary connections within the municipal right-of-way.

MTE is proud to have contributed to a project that supports local industry, tourism, and the continued revitalization of the St. Jacobs area.
